Common questions

Microsoft says it backs up our data, so why do we need a separate backup?
Microsoft keeps your service running and protects against its own failures, but it works on a shared responsibility model where your data is your responsibility. Items deleted, overwritten or hit by ransomware are often only recoverable for a limited window, and not always in full. A separate Microsoft 365 backup gives you a long-term, independent copy of email, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive that you control.
What does immutable backup mean and why does it matter?
Immutable storage means that once a backup is written, it cannot be changed or deleted for a set period, even by an administrator account. This matters because modern ransomware deliberately hunts down and encrypts or wipes backups before triggering, knowing that is what stops you recovering. Immutable copies cannot be tampered with, so you always have a clean restore point to go back to.
How do you know our backups will actually restore when we need them?
We test them. On a regular schedule we run real restores of files, servers and Microsoft 365 data rather than just trusting the green tick on a dashboard, because a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption. We agree your recovery objectives up front, how much data you can afford to lose and how quickly you need to be back, then test against those targets.
